Vernaccia di San Gimignano stands out among the top wines of Tuscany, being the region’s only white wine to have reached the lofty heights of DOCG status

This is a distinctive, unoaked, dry Vernaccia. Not always recognised out of Italy, nevertheless it is one of the most charismatic and distinctive Italian whites. It is recognized for its golden-hued colour, powerful and full-bodied nature, heady floral bouquet, with its bright fruit and crisp acidity. A dry persistent finish with a hint of bitter almonds.

Dating back to 1925 the winery overlooks the hills of San Gimignano is the Tenuta Il Piano “The Plain”, with its panoramic views of San G’s Medieval Towers. The soil comprises of Limestone under a great base of Sandstone with a mix of rich minerals, which creates perfect acidity and structure in the Carlesi Zucconi wines.

The crisp dryness of Vernaccia makes it the perfect pairing for rich cream or coconut milk based dishes, stronger flavoured fish such as salmon, cheeses, vegetable dishes, chickpeas and pinenuts.
